Driving through the rolling hillside of the southern region of France, known as the Aquataine, bordering Spain and the Atlantic Ocean, the road signs of Les Sources de Caudalie start to pop up en route through the little villages surrounding Bordeaux. Steering the rental car in the right direction, I wish for a more fitting mode of transport to
guide us along the French country lanes. It’s easy to close my eyes in the passenger seat and dream that we turn corners in a springy Citroen 2CV or a classic Peugeot 404 coupé cabriolet, with Grace Kelly hair, a haute couture Christian Dior dress and matching tortoiseshell sunglasses for a trip through this textured landscape.
